CIEH Level 2 Award in Conflict Resolution and Personal Safety

Work related violence is on the rise and employers have a duty of care to provide a safe place of work. This is not easy in environments where the potential for conflict and aggression is high. The cost to business can be very high if staff are not trained to deal with these situations and it leaves staff vulnerable to physical and psychological damage.

This Level 2 qualification has been developed for organisations and their employees to give them an awareness of how to identify & protect themselves in the face of confrontational behaviour in the workplace.

Course Content

  • The Law
  • Understanding the laws that apply to business and their employees
  • Define the four main categories of assault
  • Reporting and recording confrontational behaviour
  • The work environment
  • Identify risks to personal safety
  • Benefits of company policy’s and procedures on personal safety
  • Understanding the situations that may increase the risk of conflict
  • Resolving confrontational situations
  • Identify the indicators of aggressive behaviour
  • Methods of defusing a potential confrontational situation
  • Using verbal and non verbal signals to minimise conflict
  • Using observational/listening and communication skills to defuse conflict
  • Personal safety
  • Look at common threats in the workplace
  • Establishing and maintaining a personal safety zone
  • Breakaway techniques to protect personal safety

Duration and Certification

This is a one-day course with a multiple choice examination at the end. Following successful completion candidates will be awarded a certificate from CIEH.
