Lifting and Slinging Training

 

Course Overview:

This course provides delegates with a basic knowledge of lifting and slinging to enable them to carry out their operations in accordance with statutory requirements and without risk to health.

Course / Session Duration:

The course duration can be agreed per client but is usually one day with a maximum of 8 delegates. This course must be delivered onsite, with access to suitable lifting equipment and accessories for the practical elements of the course.

Learning Outcomes:

The course will cover the following areas:

  • Selecting and using chains and chain slings

  • Selecting and using wire rope slings

  • Using 'Safe Working Load' charts

  • Slinging and moving loads

  • Working with cranes

  • Calculating the weights and centre of gravity of loads and taking these factors into account of slinging and moving safely

  • Relevant current legislation relating to lifting and slinging and general site and workshop safety standard

  • Lifting tackle inspection, maintenance, and storage procedures

Target Audience:

This course is targeted at anyone who is required to use lifting equipment within their role.

​

Assessment Method:

Delegates will be required to take part in practical exercises throughout the day, trainer will use these exercises to assess competence. Delegates will also be required to complete a written knowledge assessment. Upon successful completion of this course and assessment certificates can be issued.
