Lifting and Slinging Training
Course Overview:
This course provides delegates with a basic knowledge of lifting and slinging to enable them to carry out their operations in accordance with statutory requirements and without risk to health.

Course / Session Duration:
The course duration can be agreed per client but is usually one day with a maximum of 8 delegates. This course must be delivered onsite, with access to suitable lifting equipment and accessories for the practical elements of the course.

Learning Outcomes:
The course will cover the following areas:

Selecting and using chains and chain slings

Selecting and using wire rope slings
-
Using 'Safe Working Load' charts
-
Slinging and moving loads
-
Working with cranes
-
Calculating the weights and centre of gravity of loads and taking these factors into account of slinging and moving safely

Relevant current legislation relating to lifting and slinging and general site and workshop safety standard

Lifting tackle inspection, maintenance, and storage procedures

Target Audience:
This course is targeted at anyone who is required to use lifting equipment within their role.
​
Assessment Method:
Delegates will be required to take part in practical exercises throughout the day, trainer will use these exercises to assess competence. Delegates will also be required to complete a written knowledge assessment. Upon successful completion of this course and assessment certificates can be issued.
