Rail Awareness Training

Course Overview:

This railway awareness course provides an overview of railway operations and an introduction to the requirements when going onto and working on managed infrastructure.  

​

Course / Session Duration:

This is a one-day course that can be delivered online or as a traditional face-to-face tutor led session on your own site or venue.

​

Learning Outcomes:​

  • Describe the interface between train and freight operating companies

  • Explain the hazards associated with working on track and how these impact on the environment

  • Identify the track components and layout that make up the infrastructure

  • Identify the various safe systems of work that can be implemented to carry out work “On or Near the Line”

  • Describe the competencies required when working on or near the line

​

Target Audience:

The course is designed for individuals who work around rail infrastructure but do not require or need access to the line. This course does not allow access to work on or near the line.

​

Assessment Method:

Delegates will be required to complete a written knowledge assessment at the end of the course. Upon successful completion of the course and assessment, delegates can be issued with a certificate.
