A great “Networking for Charity” meeting on 15.03.2023 hosted by Laverne King.
It was very insightful hearing from the various business connections people had around the room and to know the proceeds from todays meeting were going to two great causes; Midlands Air Ambulance and Lillian Prime MS Centre, Derby.
The 10-minute showcase was from Ade Litherland who talked about Lillian Prime MS Centre in Derby. Ade shared information about the charity and increased our awareness about Multiple Sclerosis (MS) that not a lot of us knew about MS.
MS is a disease that causes lesions on the Central Nervous System CNS (Brain & Spinal Cord)
There are around 130,000 people living with MS in the UK.
Every week 130 people are diagnosed.
It is nearly 3 times more common in women than in men.
Most people are diagnosed in their 20’s and 30’s but some can be younger or older.
MS is the most common condition effecting the CNS in young adults.
MS is a lifelong condition, but it is NOT a terminal illness.
MS is NOT infectious or contagious.
Everyone’s MS is different – with regards to range and severity of symptoms.
MS is not inherited but family members do have a slightly higher risk of developing MS
