Supplier Audits

Case Study

A major Train Operating Company in the South West of England chose The QSS Group Ltd to carry out a series of Supplier Audits as part of their Internal Audit Programme.

The Customer needed to ensure their suppliers were performing up to industry and company standards. They sought out help from The QSS Group to audit their suppliers to ensure there internal audit programme was fulfilled.

The Audits needed to include the contents of a jointly modified ACOP 1003 protocol and a Spares and Services scope for each Supplier.

To provide the Supplier Audits a number of steps needed to be taken, they were:

1. An in-depth investigation into the specific audit protocol supported by the Professional Head.

2. A focussed, concise report, that is seen to add value to their relationship with their supplier.

3. More than NCRs and Recommendations. This means, a clearer understanding of the quality, culture and respect for their rolling stock, demonstrated by the supplier.

4. Scope for the development of shared objectives for productivity gains and continual improvement.

In summary, the TOC appreciated the depth of experience demonstrated by QSS and the downstream benefits of this approach to these audits, gained over many years, which outweighed any initial monetary value.
