Railway Awareness

Aims 

The course is aimed at all levels of staff who do not need Personal Track Safety (PTS) Competence, but who do require the knowledge and understanding of working on a railway infrastructure.

By the end of the Railway Awareness Course, delegates will be able to:

  • Describe the interface between Network Rail, Train and Freight Operating Companies.

  • Explain the hazards associated with working on track and how these impact on the environment.

  • Identify the track components and layout that make up the infrastructure.

  • Identify the various safe systems of work that can be implemented to carry out work “On or Near the Line”.

  • Describe the competencies required when working On or Near the Line.
