Aims
On completion of this course candidates will be able to:

Identify hazards associated with abrasive wheels

Consider precautions to be taken

Correctly store and handle abrasive wheels

Select an appropriate abrasive wheel for a specific machine and task

Carry out inspection and safe mounting of abrasive wheels
Content
The course is delivered on the client’s premises and provides a practical session for wheel/disc changing and mounting for the specific equipment in use.
Delegates will be taught the following topics:

The requirements of the Provisions and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER)

Abrasive wheels hazards, risks & control measures

Safe Ten stages
-
Selecting & Identifying Abrasive wheels (markings/types & speeds)

Inspecting and Testing abrasive wheels

Storing Abrasive Wheels
-
Mounting of Abrasive wheels & Guard design

Truing & Dressing wheel
The course will cover the following types of abrasive wheels:

TYPE 1 Grinding (Bench)

TYPE 41 Flat for Cutting
-
TYPE 42 Depressed Centre for Cutting
-
TYPE 27 Depressed Centre for Grinding
