Risk Assessment Training
The aim of this course is to provide delegates with an appreciation of the purpose and role of risk assessment as required by UK health and safety legislation and to enable them to practically apply risk assessment principles.
By the end of the course delegates will:
- Understand the basic structure of the UK health and safety legal framework and the approach to enforcement of health and safety law
- Have an awareness of the principle regulations requiring risk assessments to be carried out
- Appreciate basic risk assessment concepts
- Be able to adopt a practical approach to risk assessment and implementation of actions arising from risk assessment
Course Content
- The main causes of injury in the workplace
- Why risk assessment is used?
- The legal requirements for risk assessment
- What is risk assessment? – key definitions and the five-step process
- Identification of hazards
- Risk assessment techniques
- Reducing risk and the ‘ALARP’ principle
- Recording risk assessments
- Risk assessment review
At the end of the course delegates will be required to complete a multi-choice examination paper.
Course Duration
This is normally a one-day course which can be extended to two days with the content expanded to cover specific risk assessments as required under the ‘six-pack’ regulations.
