Principal Contractor's Licences

Network Rail has a legal and moral duty to ensure that its contractors do not import risk onto the railway. As a result of this, contractors undertaking physical works on the mainline railway network are required to have effective systems in place to manage the safety, quality and environmental aspects of their business. Network Rail requires these systems to be described within a Principal Contractor’s Licence.

The QSS Group Ltd (QSS) has a long and successful history in assisting contractors and suppliers with the development and implementation of arrangements that are compliant with Network Rail's licensing requirements. Working closely with both contractors and Network Rail, QSS can assist with the development, preparation and submission of documentation to support the granting of a contractor’s licence.

Where an organisation is seeking to become a contractor to Network Rail, QSS will undertake an initial review of existing management systems in order to understand where compliance, gaps and weaknesses exist in relation to legislative, industry and Network Rail requirements. QSS will make recommendations for improvement, suggesting priorities for action and developing programs to deliver these. We will also provide the necessary guidance and assistance to enable submission of robust, compliant contractor’s licence documentation. In all cases, our client’s needs are fashioned into solutions that meet Network Rail’s requirements. Our pedigree in this field is recognised throughout the industry.

Once your contractor licence has been issued our support does not necessarily end there. QSS have an established reputation in assisting its clients to effectively meet the requirements of an ever changing industry.
