Railway Industry Supplier Approval Scheme (RISAS)
The Railway Industry Supplier Approval Scheme (RISAS) is a joint initiative within the rail industry to establish a robust assessment scheme for product and services. Championed by ATOC, RIA and RSSB, it responds to the Lord Cullen public inquiry recommendation number 24 for the rail industry to establish an appropriate supplier assessment process. RIQC Limited, a subsidiary company of The QSS Group Limited, is an approved RISAB Supplier Assessment Services The aim of the Railway Industry Supplier Approval Scheme (RISAS) is to provide economies of scale to the railway industry by reducing duplication in auditing suppliers of safety critical materials and services for the overhaul of assets and components, initially for trains and train components. The RISAB will conduct an Assessment of a supplier in order to grant either ‘Standard’ or ‘Engineering Change’ approval for an agreed scope of Product Groups. The Assessment will review the management systems in place and will examine in detail a representative sample of products to give assurance that the agreed scope can be approved. As a supplier, RISAS approval will save you time and effort from being repeatedly audited; one thorough assessment instead of multiple audits by your customers. The RISAB assessment is a detailed and comprehensive review of the management systems and processes of the supplier. The evidence that must be provided both prior to and during the assessment is considerable. A key element of RISAS accreditation is the emphasis it places on technical competence. RIQC has successfully demonstrated an in-depth technical competence in all the Product Groups, as well as the necessary supplier approval skills.
RIQC hold Accreditation for the following Product Groups:
Supplier certification is initially granted for one year. At re-certification, an increased periodicity based on the results of the assessment will be available, for example three years. If you would like to discuss the benefits of RISAS certification for your business, please contact our Managing Director and appointed RISAB Manager, Ken Mee.
