The QSS Group Limited (QSS) offer a range of Project Management services that cover engineering and general management system controls. Our Project Managers have undertaken the following work:
- Management of collision repairs to rail vehicles involved in mishaps
Work involved liaison between the RoSCo, Fleet operator and Repairers. Monitoring repair activity and reporting on progress. Progress included assessment of resources, materials planning, staff allocation and competency and compliance to repair specification.
The independent use of project management enabled smooth operation of the contract and delivery of the vehicles to revenue earning service on plan and to budget.
- Performance Management during relocation of work between Depots
During rationalisation of a Depot, the maintenance activity was transferred to an alternative site. Project Managers were required to maintain the maintenance schedule during transfer ensuring that quality of work and cost of services were maintained. This enabled Managers and Supervisors to prepare the new location to receive the additional workload. The approach enabled a review of the competency of staff, a review of the maintenance specification to be undertaken and the introduction of improvements at the new location.
The use of an independent Project Manager was able to maintain good and effective working relationships for the client during a significant period of change for the people involved.
- Contract and Commercial Reviews
Following a contract review and audit of the client by their customer, to establish the level of compliance within a contract, QSS undertook an independent review of the contract arrangements and specified deliverables. Involving all departments, operational, commercial, financial and contract liaison, QSS provided a project team that produced a suite of procedures to supplement and enhance the Management Systems that existed to enable the client to meet their obligations under the contract. The process resulted in an enhanced management system, which was supported by a communication strategy to the client’s staff as well as implementation of changes to working practices.
The application of independent Project Management demonstrated to the client’s customer the seriousness that was taken to resolve the issues and provided confidence to the client’s customer of future performance.
